Checks and X’s
Learn how to eliminate big numbers from your scorecard. Checks and X’s divide your round into two games…….
The Scoring Zone is set at 100 yards from the flag. Each hole has a specific goal: to earn a Check, you need to get your ball within 100 yards in two shots less than the hole’s par. If you don't make it, you'll get an X instead.
A new game begins once your ball reaches the 100-yard marker. You must get the ball in the hole in 3 shots or less to earn your second checkmark.
If you make an X, consider yourself lucky. You now have an opportunity to learn something about your game. Making an X is useful because it informs our practice and helps us spot trends in our game.
The 10 Keys are the most common reasons a shot doesn’t go as planned, or a big number is made. Our students use these 10 keys to better understand their games and make positive changes.
Earning an X indicates specific areas that need attention in your game. For example, if you experience two three-putts in a round, it’s essential to incorporate two additional putting drills into your customized practice regimen. This focused approach will help you target weaknesses and convert them into strengths, ensuring a more effective training session. Remember, the key to improvement lies in tailored practice that addresses your unique challenges and aligns with your overall goals on the course.
